What The Bible Says About Giving

Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back (Luke 6:38).

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! (Malachi 3:10)

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (1 Timothy 6:10)

You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully. (2 Corinthians 9:7)

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35)

The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. (Proverbs 22:7)

Give Now

The Bible teaches us to Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give us everything we need (Matthew 6:33). Giving is a response of faith that boldly proclaims our belief in God and His Word. It openly displays our trust in God and His promises to take care of every need. It reverently celebrates our obedience to the supernatural provision of Jehovah Jireh (God our Provider). We give because we have been blessed by God, we want to be a blessing to others, and it makes room for us to receive more blessings (Luke 6:38).

What To Support

Tithing:

A tithe is 10% of your income given specifically to your local church affiliation. The word tithe literally means tenth in Hebrew. Because the custom of tithing is biblical, it is a practice by which Christians illustrate their faith.

(Malachi 3:8-19)

Offerings:

While tithing is a specific amount, the offering is anything you give above and beyond the tithe. While most of the time we think of offering as monetary, offerings may be made in other forms. Whatever gift we are offering, the Bible teaches us to give cheerfully as an act of worship, devotion or sacrifice unto God.

(2 Corinthians 9:6-7)

Ministry:

There may be specific causes to which you would like to contribute. Please indicate your preference on your envelope or select the appropriate option online or on the NLMBC mobile app.
